Thai South Affected By Indonesia’s Haze

BANGKOK – Thailand’s Southern Meteorological Centre (East Coast) in Songkhla province reported on Monday that the southwest monsoon covering the southern Thai region currently could bring with it haze from annual forest fires on the Sumatra Island in Indonesia.
The centre’s director Wanchai Sakudomchai, told journalists that satellite images showed there were some 163 hot spots on the Sumatra Island and the prevailing southwest monsoon wind appeared to have brought the smog to several southern Thai areas.
Songkhla, for instance, has been covered by thick haze in early morning over the past days, before gradually fading a few hours later, Thai News Agency (TNA)
reported.
Wanchai said he has instructed local officials to closely monitor satellite updates and timely warn people in areas at risk of possible impacts from either more hot spots in Indonesia or stronger southwest monsoon wind. – BERNAMA

Lim Guan Eng’s Big Lies Starting To Show

Lim Guan Eng aka God’s answer to Chinese Malaysians is feeling panicky.
We hear he has been like a cat on a hot tin roof after the deputy Prime Minister entered his territory in Bagan. The crowd was incredible and Muhyiddin Yassin gave a blistering speech and poked holes in all the lies and boastful claims that Lim Guan Eng has been making the last 4 years.
He shredded the CM’s boast that millions of ringgit of foreign investment poured into Penang just months after he became CM.  Remember the promised multi-million investments by Blackberry and the plan to build a golf course by the South Koreans on the mainland?
They were all big fat lies.
Guan Eng almost got screwed big time by wanting to build a tiger park until he realized he was dealing with notorious animal smuggler Anson!
Muhyiddin pointed out that investments do not pour in overnight or even over a few months. Investors do serious economic and political risks studies, they have to go through MIDA the federal agency handling foreign investments, then they have to make sure there is enough manpower and resources etc.
People are starting to see through his lies and the way he twists and turns things. The intelligent people can see that he is very inexperienced and boastful but they want to give him a chance so they keep quiet for now.
But not for long. They are getting irritated with his style. Every time he opens his mouth, he runs down the country. What kind of Malaysian is he?
A few days ago, he was talking about how Malaysians are flocking to Australia in droves because they are not happy in this country.
Lim Guan Eng, if you and Betty and big daddy are not happy, please don’t assume that everyone else is not happy.
In fact, we suspect that you, at least, are very happy – lots of power in your hands, driven around in PG1 (the kind of specialised number plate that your friend Nizar ex MB is against), a pretty girlfriend called Chai Hong Rainbow, and everyone in your DAP kingdom terrified of you – with the exception of Teng Chang Khim and Karpal Singh.
Muhyiddin also announced that federal government will be building low-cost housing in Seberang Perai because the DAP government has failed to build even one unit of housing for the poor.
Instead it is giving land to developers to build convention centres and condos and shopping malls – like the SPICE project and the Bayan Mutiara Bay project.
He has practically raped all the hills in Penang for the developers. He shifted the blame to the previous state government but he forgot his state exco member Chow Kon Yeow announced the DAP approved 19 projects and his Tanjung Bungah ADUN said more would be built!
He then bluffed his way by saying the DAP government imposed a height criteria on all projects – our Dear Leader forgot that every new building – even an inch- adds more pressure on the hills.
It does not matter how high or how low.
The day after Muhyiddin announced the low cost housing, the kiasu CM quickly claimed that the state government would acquire land to build low cost homes.
Er, Mr CM, only after 4 years in power that you realised you have not been thinking of the poor?
Oh, we get it, your mind has been busy with capturing Putrajaya and becoming PM. Thanks, Karpal Singh, for letting the cat out of the bag.
Guan Eng now says he wants to buy land to build low cost houses – after he has sold every inch of the land to the developers!
It is tragic that Lim Guan Eng is talking low cost housing only after Muhyiddin announced plans for the poor in Penang.
Playing catch up, you know. The so-called champion of the people has obviously been championing himself and the DAP rather than the people the last 4 years.
Residents in Jelutong, Penang, have been complaining about pollution, a fire burning in the rubbish dump site there.
He cannot even put out the fire in the dump site but he is dreaming of Putrajaya. As someone on Twitter said: What a dumb arse!

Penang DAP Exco Blames Previous Govt

KUALA LUMPUR: Hillside development in Penang was approved by the previous Barisan Nasional state government and the current DAP-led Penang government can’t do anything about it, says DAP state executive councillor Phee Bon Poh.
The state Environment, Health and Caring Society Welfare exco told The Mole the Penang government could not stop the approved hillside projects as they might have to face lawsuits and bear the losses incurred by the developers.
“We will not take the blame of these approved projects. However, we have taken up the responsibility to ensure that these projects will follow the stringent guidelines imposed on them,” Phee said.
He was commenting on a blog post by Parti Cinta Malaysia vice-president Huan Cheng Guan who wrote that Penangites were backstabbed by DAP with unfulfilled promises on various issues including the hillside development at Sungai Ara and Batu Feringghi.
Phee who is the Sungai Puyu state assemblyman said the state government had done its best in putting a stop to hillside projects.
Citing a Boustead Holdings Berhad project in George Town as an example, Phee said the state government had to pay RM 20 million to the company as compensation for scaling down their hotel in the heritage zone from the planned 12-storey to five storeys.
The Edge had reported the project, approved by the previous state government originally comprised the development of a 12-storey four-star hotel with 293 rooms and the restoration of a three-storey Heritage Building at No 1 & 2 Weld Quay, Penang on a 1.195-acre site.
“So now you tell me, why should we take the blame when it has been approved by the previous government?
“It is the Penang people who will have to bear the losses if we cancel the development projects. We need to pay to developers for the losses incurred.”
“We have to raise assessment tax to the Penang people. It is not fair to them,” Phee added.
Penang government was under scrutiny from many quarters including environmental NGO Sahabat Alam Malaysia (SAM) and Consumer Association of Penang (CAP) which organised a protest against the hillside development.
Penang BN chairman Teng Chang Yeow toldThe Mole that the state government must admit that there were some excessive and unjustified developments on the island that irked residents.
The Star reported that DAP state assemblyman for Tanjung Bungah Teh Yee Cheu had lashed out against hillside developments.
The had demanded the state government to stop all such projects especially those at his constituency and the Batu Ferringhi seafront.
Phee however said that Teh’s statement was manipulated by The Star and that his fellow DAP state assemblyman lacked information pertaining the hillside development projects.
“Teh is not an exco. There are a lot of things he is not aware of (on development projects). I believe he issued the statement without malice but his statement was manipulated.
“I will meet him to explain and clarify the matter soon,” Phee added.

PAS Plays Politics Over Haj Dates

With the dates of GE 13 not yet decided, PAS has been criticised for trying to politicise the Haj issue.
The party has reportedly called on its supporters to postpone their Haj pilgrimage if the election is scheduled between the middle of August and the last week of October.
Umno parliamentarians have advised PAS not to manipulate the minds of Muslim voters by politicising the issue.
They were responding to the demand by PAS leaders that elections should not be held during the pilgrimage season.
Umno MPs said that the timing of the elections was the prerogative of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, and that PAS should not politicise a religious matter to gain voter sympathy.
Puteri Umno chief Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin said that PAS’ actions were a “cheap way to gain sympathy votes”.
“They are using this to gain more support. The Haj issue has political connotations and in this respect they are manipulating the minds of the Muslims,” she was quoted by Free Malaysia Today.
She pointed out that Najib would decide the election date keeping all factors in mind, as he is “wise enough to decide what’s the best for the country”.
“And besides, he still has until next year to call for election,” she said.
Lenggong MP, Shamsul Anuar Nasarah agreed. “Who said that the election will be during the Haj period?” he asked.
He said that all Muslims performed Haj, not just PAS supporters.
“I’m sure there are more Umno members performing the Haj,” he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Higher Education Minister Saifuddin Abdullah said that all Umno members within his division were carrying on with their Haj plans.
Pushed on the defensive, PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub claimed that his party only wanted to put voters’ minds at ease.
“We just want a guarantee so that all Muslims regardless of whether they are from PAS or Umno can perform their religious duty without having to worry ceaselessly about the election,” he claimed.
PAS’ attempt to appeal to religious emotions has therefore fallen flat, with the party only succeeding at making a mountain out of a molehill.
It is obvious to everyone that the Prime Minister will keep the pilgrimage season in mind when deciding the GE 13 dates. After all, 20,000 to 30,000 Muslims are planning to perform the Haj this year.
Unlike PAS, Najib is not likely to demand that Malaysians choose between their religious duty and their national duty.

The Tale Of The Terrible 3 A’s – Ambiga Breaks Up With Anwar & Azmin?

Ambiga – From Hero to Zero
The word is out. Ambiga has told her inner circle NGO circle that she wants nothing more to do with Anwar Ibrahim and Azmin Ali. She has been fuming ever since the Berish 3 fiasco that has made her look like a fool.
What more, having to put up with butts and beef burgers in her frontyard. The love affair has ended. Poor Ambiga has been taken for a ride by Anwar and gang.
Yes, we noticed that the only people allowed into her posh Damansara home shortly after Bersih 3 were the NGOs people like the lookalike pair of uglies Maria Chin and Wong Chin Huat, vampire face Cynthia Gabriel, Arul from the socialist party and several other usual suspects who will support anything that is anti BN.
The only notable PKR figure allowed in after the street violence was Nurul Izzah. Mummy and daddy were not welcome and neither were Azmin and that clown Tian Chua.
Even the women champion Teresa Cock and Elisabeth Wong were not welcome. Why? Because Ambiga and her NGO gang blames them for the the way the protest turned into a fight fest and near anarchy.
Outwardly Ambiga has blamed the police but behind the scenes she has laid the blame squarely on Anwar and Azmin, the pair who had instigated the crowd to burst through barbed wires and barriers into Dataran Merdeka.
Even Pas is angry and ashamed. Their Unit Amal guys who were there to do crowd control and maintain order suddenly turned into law breakers. Everyone has seen the video of the maroon attired Pas Unit Amal barrelling their way through the police barricade after Anwar and Azmin made those secret hand signals.
What a bunch of ruffians! Pas should disband them or send them, for national service training.
Ambiga’s face has been as black as thunder since that day. She feels she has been betrayed by the PKR goons, her dignity has been dragged through the streets and she is facing a law suit.
Worst of all, she has lost her credibility and dropped her water face. In fact she looks like a stupid old woman who should have known better than to trust politicians especially one like Anwar.
People say she is a hot shot lawyer. Really? The way she talks, it sounds like she does not even know what a court injunction is.
Did she understand that the police has a court injunction stopping anyone from entering Dataran Merdeka? She keeps blaming police for firing tear gas and that was why people went wild. Hello aunty, the teargas flew only after Anwar and gang crashed through police barriers.
The trouble with Ambiga was that she got big headed after the success of Bersih 2. She thought she was God’s answer to democracy.
The orginal Bersih organisers were just a bunch of frustrated NGOs trying to be king makers ahead of the general election. They did not have the network or organisstion and needed the political parties to help organise the demo and bring out the numbers.
She wanted to use the PR people and she thought she could control them and call the shots. She did not realise that she was dealing with the father of exploitation, Anwar Ibrahim. He used her, he screwed up Bersih 3 and now Ambiga has been left high and dry. Now she knows how Saiful Bukhary felt.
A few days after Bersih 3, she admitted there would be no Bersih 4. It was an admission of defeat that things had gone wrong with her Bersih baby.
She has ceased to appear at Oppposition rallies and functions. She has refused to be seen with them. We heard she was invited to a big fund raising dinner by PKR in Royal Bintang Hotel a few months ago. Needless to say, she stayed at home. Anwar’s tactics has left a bad taste in her mouth, pun intended.
Ambiga has gone from hero to zero after Bersih 3. Nobody likes manipulators who try to overthrow a government via street violence.
As a lawyer she should know the law. The election process is not perfect but it is not as teruk as she and her friends claim. Otherwise how on earth did the PR win so many states in 2008?
She has not said a word about the way a traffic policeman was kicked and attacked or the mobs who wrecked the police car and caused the cop inside to land up in a hospital bed.
She just went on and on like a Tamil movie about how the police beat up people. She simply refused to acknowledge that her mobs also beat up the police. Instead she is suing the government over the Peaceful Assembly Act.
We think Ambiga is a hypocrite whose true colours have been exposed in the aftermath of the street violence. Sorry your love fest with Anwar Ibrahim has ended. Politics unlike Tamil movies do not always end happily ever after.
